New Delhi, Apr 03: The Union Government is actively collaborating with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation and success of the expanded Dharti Aaba Mission in the Union Territory.
The initiative, known as Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, is a comprehensive program comprising 25 interventions implemented by 17 line Ministries. The mission aims to address infrastructural gaps and improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, Anganwadi facilities, and livelihood opportunities. Over a period of five years, the mission will cover 63,843 villages across 549 districts and 2,911 blocks in 30 States and Union Territories.
For Jammu and Kashmir, the program targets 393 villages across 112 blocks in 20 districts. Each concerned ministry has been allocated a budget and specific targets to ensure effective implementation. The mission follows a convergence-based approach, ensuring that resources from various schemes are utilized efficiently to achieve maximum impact.
To enhance public participation and awareness, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has directed State and UT administrations, including Jammu and Kashmir, to organize Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) camps. These camps aim to spread awareness about the mission and assist tribal communities in obtaining essential documents such as Aadhar Cards and Jandhan Bank accounts, which are necessary to access benefits under various government schemes.
Additionally, based on proposals from the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has approved projects worth Rs. 8.77 crore under the Dharti Aaba Mission. These funds will be utilized for infrastructure development and welfare programs, ensuring that tribal communities in the region receive enhanced support and improved living conditions.
Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durgadas Uikey, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering tribal populations through targeted initiatives. He emphasized that the Dharti Aaba Mission will play a crucial role in uplifting marginalized communities and fostering socio-economic development in Jammu and Kashmir.
