Srinagar, May 16: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat on Friday acknowledged the crucial role played by the Police during the recent Indo-Pak conflict, particularly in border villages of Jammu district.
He appreciated the force for its swift and coordinated response in evacuating civilians from high-risk areas, a move that helped save numerous lives amid heightened cross-border hostilities.
Accompanied by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, the DGP visited several forward locations along the International Border, beginning with the RS Pura sector.
During the visit, he interacted with personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police at various Border Outposts (BOPs) including Octroi (Suchetgarh), Kharkola, Baspur Bangla, and Agra Chak.
The top police officer later visited Police Station Kanachak and the Border Police Post (BPP) Sandwan where he held on-ground interactions with officers and jawans deployed in the sensitive border belt.
During these visits, DGP Prabhat reviewed security arrangements, praised the high level of preparedness, and assured the personnel of the department’s full support in their operational duties.
He specifically lauded the JKP’s coordination with other security forces and civil administration.
“It ensured the timely evacuation of residents from shelling-hit villages during recent escalations, which he said played a pivotal role in minimizing casualties and instilling confidence among the local population,” he said.
Further, the DGP saluted the courage, resilience, and commitment of the BSF personnel guarding the International Border, emphasizing their critical role in giving a befitting response to enemy provocations and safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation.
