DG Sports inaugurates Judo bouts, advises players to show sporting spirit

Vying for top honours Judokas show promise as Mohit of Delhi, Divay of Haryana win gold

Jammu, Nov 08: Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara inaugurated the bouts of 68th National School Games in the discipline of Judo U-17 boys in a colourful function at Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar here on Friday.
The Director General advised the Judokas to play the game with sporting spirit and give their best while vying for the top honours.
Meanwhile, on day-1, the bouts were held in two weight categories of -40 kg and +90 kg.
In -40 kg category, Mohit of Delhi clinched gold, while the silver medal went to Syed Abubaker of Karnataka in this category. The bronze medals in this category were bagged by Vedant Madholka of Maharashtra and Subroto Roy of West Bengal.
In U-17 boys +90 kg category, Divay Ruhal of Haryana bagged gold and Taraksh Ujjainwal of Delhi claimed the silver medal in this category. The bronze medals in this category went to Mohd Noman of Uttar Pradesh and Aftab Jafar of Kerala.
J&K Judokas failed to make an impact in both the categories today.
In -40 category, Anshuman of J&K lost to Prasanna C of Tamil Nadu in his first bout, while in the +90 category, Jaideep Manhas of J&K lost the match against Afthab Jafar of Kerala also in his very first bout.
Later-on, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Ved Prakash presented medals to the winners in the presentation ceremony.
