DDG ICAR, VC SKUAST-K inaugurate admin office, lab block at KVK Shopian

Srinagar, Dec 24: Deputy Director General, Agriculture Extension, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR),) Professor Udham Singh Gautum and Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai Sunday inaugurated the new Administrative Office and Laboratory Blok at Krishi Vikas Kendra, Balpora, Shopian.  
Director, ATARI Zone-1 Ludhiana, Prof Parvender Sheoran; Director, Extension. SKUAST-K, Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, and Estates Officer SKUAST-K Prof Junaid Khan were also present at the occasion. Head, KVK Shopian, Dr Zaffar Afroz Badri, while welcoming the guests, presented a review of different activities conducted by KVK Shopian. 
While addressing the gathering, DDG commended the grassroots work of the KVK Shopian and provided his suggestions to make further improvements in farmer-oriented extension activities. Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K highlighted the role of KVK in the betterment of the farming community of district Shopian. He pointed out some major achievements which KVK had achieved during the last few years. Director ATARI Zone 1 Ludhiana stressed upon uploading the day-to-day activities on the KVK portal and also stressed upon documentation of field activities to further improve the ranking of KVK. 
The Director ATARI was appraised of various constraints which the KVK has been facing every now and then and he assured all his help and cooperation in this regard. 
The Director Extension in his address advised the educated youth to become job creators rather the job seekers. The dignitaries also paid field visits and made a comprehensive tour of the demonstration units including horticulture, field crops, poultry-cum-duckery unit and other units of the Kendra. Some farmers presented their feedback on different farm activities with the dignitaries. They praised the role of KVK in the dissemination of technologies from lab to land.
