Shopian, Aug 11: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the Building Permission System in urban areas and deliberate on transformative amendments to the Unified Building By-laws.According to a statement issued here, the key objectives discussed included the simplification of approval processes, Ease of Doing Business (EODB), citizen-centric reforms, adoption of sustainable and eco-friendly norms, and development of disaster-resilient infrastructure. DDC emphasised that the reforms aim to transform Shopian into a model of efficient urban governance. The proposed amendments will prioritize citizen convenience, transparency, and sustainable growth. Leveraging technology and reducing hurdles are central to the plan, with the ultimate goal of making Shopian the most investment-friendly district in J&K while ensuring accountable and environmentally responsible development. The concerned departments were directed to expedite the formulation of citizen-friendly mechanisms and integrate modern technology for faster, more transparent service delivery, thereby promoting sustainable growth and attracting investments into the district.
