Doda, June 18  Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh and SSP Sandeep Kumar Mehta today flagged off the Shri Chound Mata Charri Yatra from Kastigarh to Galadhar, marking the beginning of the sacred pilgrimage with religious fervour and devotion.

A large number of devotees gathered at Kastigarh to participate in the yatra, which holds immense spiritual and cultural significance in the region. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Shri Chound Mata Mandir Committee, local residents and officials from the district administration. The Deputy Commissioner extended his heartfelt wishes to the pilgrims and highlighted the yatra’s role in strengthening the cultural fabric and communal harmony of the region. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, cleanliness and cooperation throughout the pilgrimage. The District Administration Doda has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the yatra. The Shri Chound Mata Charri Yatra is a revered annual event that attracts thousands of devotees from Doda and neighboring areas. As the procession makes its way towards Galadhar, the atmosphere reverberates with devotional chants, traditional rituals and a strong sense of spiritual unity. Later, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of ongoing developmental works and assessed field-level implementation of key government schemes in the mountainous Tehsil. The Deputy Commissioner conducted on-site inspections of the road construction projects, water supply schemes and public utility initiatives. He emphasised the need for time-bound completion of all works while maintaining quality standards and transparency. He interacted with local residents and PRI representatives to understand grassroots-level issues. He assured time bound redress of public concerns and equitable development across all areas of the district, especially remote and hilly regions like Kastigarh.
