Ganderbal, March 20: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore Thursday inaugurated the Mega Plantation Drive 2025 at the Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal, under the theme “Go Green Kashmir, Go Green Ganderbal.” The initiative aims to promote environmental conservation and afforestation efforts across the district.
The event commenced with the administration of an Environmental Conservation Pledge, reaffirming the commitment of officers and participants to protecting nature. A flag-off ceremony marked the launch of several green initiatives, including– mass plantation of saplings to restore barren and vacant land.
Speaking at the event, DC Jatin Kishore emphasised the importance of collective action in preserving the environment, describing it as a valuable asset for future generations. He urged government departments, civil society and citizens to actively participate in making Ganderbal cleaner and greener. As part of the initiative, prizes were distributed to winners of drawing, speech, and essay competitions organised to raise awareness about environmental conservation. The ‘Go Green Ganderbal’ campaign will continue with further plantation drives and awareness programmes aimed at fostering sustainable environmental practices.
