Leh, June 14: A one-day Awareness and Sensitisation Workshop on User Experience and Design Systems and DigiLocker was held Saturday at the District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC) in Leh. The workshop was organised by the IT Department in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Rigzin Gurmet, IT Consultant, opened the inaugural session by outlining the objectives of the UX4G (User Experience for Governance) initiative. He spoke about the achievements of NeGD and underlined the importance of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) 2023 in safeguarding digital rights in the context of modern governance. He stated that the workshop’s goal was to strengthen the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) of government websites and mobile applications, through a structured framework and practical guidelines that promote user-centric service delivery.
Amit Jain, Senior Vice President of DigiLocker, delivered a detailed presentation on DigiLocker and Entity Locker, highlighting their pivotal role in advancing paperless governance. He emphasised DigiLocker’s mission to empower citizens through secure, seamless, and convenient digital access to personal and official documents. His session offered insights into DigiLocker’s integration with government services, key achievements, and its vital contribution to the Digital India vision.
As part of the broader UX4G initiative, the workshop also focused on the development of a reusable digital component library, offering technical support to departments to adopt these resources. Amit Jain noted that the ultimate aim is to ensure digital platforms are accessible, inclusive, efficient and citizen-friendly. Technical sessions were conducted by Surabhi Katiyar and Shashank Agarwal, UX Engineers from NeGD. Their interactive sessions covered a wide range of topics, including–introduction to User Experience (UX) and the UX4G initiative, demonstration of the Reusable Digital Library Repository, UX Design Thinking and UX Auditing for government platforms and Overview of DigiLocker and Entity Locker. The workshop was attended by the Under Secretary, IT Department, along with officers and officials from the IT Department and other line departments, all of whom actively participated in the sessions.
