Rijiju commends Dr. Andrabi for promoting transparency in Waqf management

Srinagar, Apr 06: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, today held a detailed meeting with the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, where she expressed her gratitude to the Minister for acknowledging her work as the head of the J&K Waqf Board.

Dr. Andrabi informed Rijiju that the entire team at the Waqf Board had worked tirelessly to overhaul the management system, which had previously been in dire need of reform. She discussed various possibilities and plans for the future development and management of Waqf properties in the region.

Highlighting the recent changes in the Waqf Act, Dr. Andrabi commended the central government for initiating an era of transformation by passing the Waqf Amendments Bill 2025. She also addressed the false propaganda surrounding the amendments, asserting that these changes were long overdue and had been recommended by experts and professionals who had worked with the Waqf system. “The amendments are beneficial and will soon be recognized by the Muslim community across India,” Dr. Andrabi said.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju praised Dr. Andrabi for her clear and fact-based approach, acknowledging her strong stance on the Waqf Bill. He also lauded her for maintaining direct communication with the people, ensuring they understand the advantages of the amendments to the Waqf Act.
