Srinagar, Aug 15: Cluster University Srinagar celebrated the 78th Independence Day with the main function held at its administrative block where Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Mobin hoisted the national flag.
The Vice Chancellor accepted the Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets with the national anthem being played in the backdrop. Those who attended the ceremony included Dean Academics Affairs, Dr. Yasmeen Ashai; Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir; Registrar, Dr. Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi; Controller of Examinations, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Mir.
Principals of constituent and affiliated colleges, Deans of various faculties, Dean Students Welfare, Chief Proctor, NSS Coordinator, Coordinators of IG/PG programmes, Nodal Officers of various committees and other staff members attended the ceremony.
In his address, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mobin spoke about the significance of the momentous occasion. He said the transformative initiatives and policies implemented by the UT administration have not only accelerated the pace of development, but have also ensured inclusive growth and empowerment of people of Jammu and Kashmir
“This year, our celebrations are even more special as we witness the remarkable progress and development achieved by the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha. The focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and digital empowerment has led to a strong foundation for a prosperous future. At the Cluster University Srinagar, we are proud to be a part of this journey of progress,” Prof. Mobin added.
The Vice Chancellor said India has made remarkable strides in various fields in the last 78 years. “Our economy has grown, our society has progressed, and our global stature has risen. However, it must be acknowledged that there is much work to be done. As a nation, we must commit ourselves to building a stronger and more resilient India. This requires the collective effort of every Indian working together toward a common goal,” he added.
Prof. Mobin stressed on the need to harness the power of technology and innovation to drive development and create opportunities for all.
“Education holds the key to unlocking India’s potential. As the Vice-Chancellor, I am committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence, research, and innovation. Our institutions of higher learning must be beacons of knowledge, producing leaders who can navigate the problems of the modern world and contribute to the betterment of society,” he added.
Earlier, Registrar, Dr. Syed Wilayat Rizvi listed the major landmarks in the last nearly eight decades, particularly the achievements made in the educational sector. He also spoke about the concept of Cluster University and the progress that has been made so far on various fronts.
