Srinagar, Jan 14 :Joint Director, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, on Tuesday highlighted the importance of preserving Kashmir’s cultural heritage while speaking to KNS at a cultural program organized on Independence Day.

“Kashmir is known for its natural beauty, but our true beauty lies in our culture and heritage, which we have safeguarded for centuries. Today, many great artists performed here, showcasing our rich traditions,” Bukhari said.

He stressed the responsibility of passing this legacy to future generations. “We are the guardians of this heritage, and it is our collective duty to ensure it thrives. As we approach Republic Day, it is crucial to provide a platform for our artists to express themselves and keep our traditions alive,” he added.

Bukhari highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting Kashmiri art forms, including music, poetry, and other cultural expressions. “Our mission is to empower our artists and strengthen the cultural fabric of Kashmir. This is not just the government’s responsibility but also our duty as a department,” he stated.

Discussing preparations for Republic Day, he said, “We are actively working on arrangements for the main function at Bakshi Stadium on January 26. Additionally, January 25 will also be celebrated with various events, and our department is playing a proactive role in these efforts.”

The event, a joint initiative of the Kashmir Music Club and the Department of Information under the Cultural Academy, was organized to celebrate the spirit of independence through artistic performances. “For a meaningful celebration of Independence Day, there can be no better expression than honoring our cultural identity,” Bukhari remarked.

He further emphasized the need to create more opportunities for artists. “We are committed to making this auditorium a vibrant cultural hub. We have a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their talent, and we will continue working towards this goal,” he concluded.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation, reinforcing the commitment to preserving and promoting Kashmir’s artistic legacy. (KNS)
