Ganderbal, Aug 30: Dr. Yash Paul, Asst Prof. Department of Information Technology, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), has been granted a prestigious design patent by the Government of the United Kingdom’s Design Patent Office for his invention titled “Portable EEG-AI Cancer Pain Management Device”.
This cutting-edge device offers a transformative approach to manage cancer pain by integrating advanced EEG technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The design patent, published under patent number “6378502”, represents a significant breakthrough in healthcare technology as it provides a compact and versatile solution to the challenges faced by cancer patients in pain management. The device can be easily attached or placed anywhere on the patient’s body, ensuring flexibility and comfort. One of its most unique features is its ability to harness renewable energy sources such as solar panels and kinetic energy harvesting, eliminating the need for frequent battery replacements and promoting sustainability. The device facilitates real-time pain assessment and features an intuitive user interface for patient feedback. Its wireless connectivity enables seamless data transmission to healthcare professionals for remote monitoring and timely intervention. Additionally, the device stores extensive data logs, enabling long-term tracking of pain trends and treatment effectiveness. With its emphasis on patient comfort and personalized care, this invention represents a paradigm shift in cancer pain management.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, congratulated Dr. Yash Paul for achieving the feat and emphasized that his contribution to medical science exemplifies the university’s commitment to research excellence and innovation. “This achievement is a matter of great pride for the university and brings global recognition to the institution.”
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool extended his appreciation to Dr. Paul, commending his work for its potential to transform the field of pain management. He remarked that the invention demonstrates how technology can enhance healthcare outcomes and improve patient care.
Dr. Yash Paul completed his Ph.D at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary after being awarded the Indo-Hungarian Fellowship in 2016.
