The Diwali Milan celebration at CSIR-IIIM Jammu brought together the spirit of joy, gratitude, and community. Director Dr. Zabeer Ahmed personally presented each gift, reaffirming CSIR-IIIM’s commitment to acknowledging the dedication of all staff, especially those who consistently support the institute’s mission.
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed noted that the Diwali celebration aimed to recognize the valuable contributions of contractual staff through a thoughtful gesture of appreciation. Lavender, chosen for its symbolic association with calmness and positivity, was selected to bring an atmosphere of peace and joy to the festivities.
Locally cultivated as part of CSIR-IIIM’s Aroma Mission, lavender plays a significant role in the institute’s research on medicinal and aromatic plants. These gifts reflect CSIR-IIIM’s commitment to sustainable livelihoods through lavender farming, benefiting farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), and communities in the region. By presenting lavender-based gifts, CSIR-IIIM celebrated Diwali while also highlighting its ongoing efforts to promote aromatic plant cultivation in Jammu and Kashmir.
