Srinagar, May 01: Chief Secretary AtalDulloo chaired a meeting to assess the advancement of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) under the JalJeevan Mission (JJM) across Jammu and Kashmir’s districts.
Attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti Department, Mission Director of JJM, and Chief Engineers of Jal Shakti Jammu/Kashmir, among other senior officials, the meeting focused on the status of Panchayats fully covered by the mission and households certified as ‘Nal se Jal’ during third-party evaluations.
Dulloo emphasized completing the work by the June 2024 deadline and addressed issues raised in the previous meeting. He urged department engineers to actively monitor field operations, ensuring quality and timely completion. Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers were directed to conduct site visits for effective supervision.
The Chief Secretary conducted a division-wise assessment of ongoing and completed works across the UT’s districts, seeking scheme-wise performance updates. He also inquired about water quality monitoring of completed schemes and the functionality of established labs for this purpose. Training sessions for PaniSamities and scheme operators in villages were stressed upon as per JJM guidelines.
ACS Jal Shakti, ShaleenKabra, presented a comprehensive progress report, indicating that the mission has achieved 78% of its target. Scheme-wise allotments for each department division were provided.
JJM authorities furnished details about certified Panchayats/villages under HarGharJal initiative and the testing status in their labs across districts. They highlighted the involvement of schools, AnganwadiCenters, and village women in testing using Free Testing Kits provided by the Department.
