As the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections approaches, residents of the Chadoora constituency are raising urgent concerns over the need for improved infrastructure in schools, healthcare services, and employment opportunities for unemployed youth.
Zahid Ahmad, a voter from Chadoora, expressed to *Rising Kashmir* that while residents consistently engage in the electoral process, many individuals living below the poverty line feel neglected by successive governments. “The government must prioritize this segment of the community that falls under the below-poverty-line category, as addressing their fundamental issues will lead to significant improvements. This community deserves attention from the forthcoming government,” he stated.
Ghulam Mohammad, a senior citizen, emphasized the need for the government to ensure old-age pensions are provided to eligible seniors. He noted that, without an elected government, many seniors have not received their pensions regularly, leading to considerable hardships. “The government must take essential measures to ensure that all senior citizens receive their pensions, which would offer them some relief in their daily lives,” he urged.
KulsamBano, another voter from Chadoora, highlighted the struggles of highly qualified youth who are finding it difficult to secure suitable employment in both government and private sectors. She pointed out the lack of opportunities in the private sector, urging the upcoming government to tackle the rising unemployment rate, which is a pressing issue not only in Chadoora but throughout the Kashmir Valley.
“Many villages lack adequate healthcare, electricity, road connectivity, and proper infrastructure in schools. The government must prioritize these issues to ensure that every village in the Chadoora constituency can benefit from these essential facilities,” Bano added.
