Chandigarh, Jan 10: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary, Tarun Chugh has strongly condemned the deteriorating law & order situation in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Expressing deep concern over the recent terrorist attack with a bomb blast at the Gumtala police post in Amritsar, Chugh said this was the ninth attack on police stations and personnel in Punjab within the last 47 days.
Questioning the silence of the Bhagwant Mann government at this alarming situation he a thorough investigation by a central agency into all these violent incidents.
The BJP leader said the attack has highlighted the incompetence and indifference of the AAP government towards the safety and security of Punjab, a critical border state. He questioned how such repeated attacks could occur under the watch of a government that seems more invested in political campaigns in Delhi than in ensuring the safety of its citizens and security forces.
“While Punjab is grappling with severe security threats, AAP ministers are busy in Delhi election campaigns, abandoning their responsibility towards the people of Punjab. Such negligence could embolden anti-national and terrorist elements, putting national security at risk,” he said.
Chugh demanded that the AAP government take immediate and concrete steps to restore law and order in Punjab and ensure the safety of the common people and security forces.
