Srinagar, Feb 09: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary Mohammad Khurshid Alam presided over a crucial meeting here in the Habba Kadal constituency, where senior party leaders and workers convened to deliberate on pressing public welfare and developmental concerns.
Habba Kadal contesting candidate Arif Laigaroo, who organised the event, addressed the gathering alongside Zonal President Sameer Jameel. Laigaroo reaffirmed PDP’s steadfast commitment to addressing the grievances of the people, stating, “Our fight is for a dignified life where every citizen’s concerns are heard and resolved with sincerity and dedication.”
Alam in his address underscored the party’s emphasis on inclusive governance, urging unity and active participation in shaping a progressive future. “True leadership is about ensuring that no voice goes unheard and no grievance remains unaddressed,” he said, emphasising the necessity of grassroots engagement.
“Public welfare is not a privilege but a fundamental right and it is our solemn duty to hold governance accountable to the people,” he added, according to a statement issued here.
Highlighting the ideological foundation of the PDP, Alam said the party draws its strength from the unflinching leadership of its president Mehbooba Mufti. “Her vision and mission serve as our guiding light. As a fearless and uncompromising voice of the people of J&K, her leadership embodies the aspirations of the common man and we must ardently uphold and advance this legacy,” he asserted.
The PDP leader further addressed the broader concerns of the party, emphasising the need to maintain political decorum, cohesion and a people-centric approach. “The strength of any movement lies in the unwavering trust of the people. We must work with integrity and perseverance to earn and honour that trust, ensuring our political discourse remains dignified, inclusive and firmly rooted in public interest,” he remarked.
Alam reaffirmed PDP’s unyielding resolve to advocate for the welfare of every citizen, pledging to translate the party’s vision into tangible action on the ground.
“The meeting provided a crucial platform for dialogue, with attendees including senior members, block presidents and supporters highlighting key local issues, including the need for infrastructural upgrades, improved civic amenities and enhanced government responsiveness,” the statement said.
