Baramulla, April 05: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from the society and promote the immense local talent among Kashmiri youth.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the final match of Volleyball tournament at Indoor Stadium, Palhallan, Baramulla, DIG Zaman stressed the importance of channelising youth energy in a positive direction.
The final match ceremony was also attended by SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, SDPO, Pattan, Shahjan Ahmad, DO Palhallan and other senior officers.
“Youth are our future. We must create avenues where they can grow, contribute to the nation, and stay away from negative influences like drugs. Our goal is to support and nurture their potential while building a peaceful and progressive society,” he said.
The DIG Zaman said peace is the foundation of development and the youth must adopt a constructive approach across all sectors. When there is peace, there is progress. When the nation grows, you will grow with it,” he added.
The senior J&K Police officer also praised the talent in Kashmir, especially in Palhallan, calling it a “fertile ground” for youth initiatives. “This stadium itself is a private effort, which is commendable. The teams that played today showcased great potential,” he said.
DIG Zaman later felicitated the winning and runner-up teams and said the J&K Police is always ready to facilitate and support youth-driven initiatives. He said that as part of its ongoing mission, the police are conducting seminars, workshops, and awareness drives to keep youth engaged and away from drugs.
“We appeal to the youth to utilize their energy in a positive direction. These kinds of initiatives are the need of the hour,” the DIG said, assuring that such programmes will continue in the future. DIG Zaman also appreciated the enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by the participating players. The performance on the field reflected the discipline, dedication, and potential of Kashmir’s youth. He encouraged them to continue honing their skills and assured that Jammu and Kashmir Police will always stand by them in their journey. “Your participation itself is a step toward a better future. Stay focused and committed, and keep moving forward with a positive spirit,” DIG Zaman said.
