Srinagar, Nov 29: Kashmir valley continued to witness intense cold weather conditions on Tuesday with most parts of the valley recording sub zero temperatures . The officials at Met department revealed that  Summer capital Srinagar recorded the season’s coldest night so far at minus 2.2°C on Tuesday against the previous lowest of minus 2.1°C recorded on Sunday.

For the past two weeks, Kashmir has been reeling under a cold wave as minimum temperatures have dropped  around minus 4-5 degrees Celsius in some parts resulting in  freezing of water taps  and most of the  water bodies.

Director Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that they were expecting a further dip in minimum temperatures. “During the next three-four days, there will be warmer days and colder nights in the region,” he said.
Lotus said mostly dry and cold weather was  likely to continue till December 08 in both J&K and Ladakh.  He said during the same period, the cold wave will intensify in Kashmir and Jammu parts.
“In coming days, there will be more dip in temperatures. Foggy weather conditions can affect the vehicular and air traffic in morning and evening hours,” he said.
While dense fog continued to engulf many parts including the city as a consequence of which vehicles moved with headlights on during the morning and evening hours.
As per MeT data,  health resort Pahalgam in south Kashmir settled at minus 4.2 °C degrees and it was the coldest place in the Valley.
