Cluster University holds academic council meeting to shape future educational pathways

Jammu, March 26: The Cluster University of Jammu convened its seventh Academic Council meeting in the university’s conference hall, where significant academic reforms were approved to enhance educational opportunities and academic excellence.
The Council unanimously approved the introduction of Human Genetics, Biochemistry, and Statistics as minor subjects at GGM Science College, a Value-Added Course in Home Science, Commerce as a major course at MAM College, and Integrated Programmes in Geology and Linguistics.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar welcomed council members and special invitee, Prof. Mohammad Mobin, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar. Dr. Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, presented an agenda comprising 29 items and one table item, all of which were thoroughly reviewed and endorsed. Key decisions included the introduction of a Master’s in Performing Arts (Music and Indian Theatre), the commencement of the 4th year of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (Honours and Honours with Research) under the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP) and recognition of college faculty as PhD supervisors. Additionally, the Council approved a streamlined migration process for students from other universities, the implementation of UGC guidelines on pursuing two academic programmes simultaneously, and the introduction of a one-year PG programme from the 2026–27 academic session. Other major approvals included PG Geography at GGM Science College, BSc Nursing, and MSc Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). Expressing gratitude, Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar commended the council members for their active participation in shaping the university’s academic vision.
The meeting was attended by Registrar Ankur Mahajan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Ranvijay Singh, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Raj Shree Dhar, Dean Research Studies Dr. Satinder Kour, Deans of various faculties, Principals and faculty members of constituent colleges, Heads of Departments of Cluster University of Jammu, as well as representatives from Cluster University Srinagar.
