Circus worker killing: Shop linked to accused seized in Anantnag

Srinagar, Nov 8: In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have confiscated a shop owned by an individual accused in the killing of a circus worker from Udhampur, which occurred near Janglat Mandi in Anantnag district earlier this year.
The move comes months after Deepak Kumar alias Deepu, a circus performer and a resident of Udhampur was shot dead by terrorists on May 29 in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police officer said they have seized the shop belonging to Umer Amin Thoker, who stands accused in the case involving the death of Deepak Kumar, a circus worker from Udhampur.
“The shop owner is facing charges under FIR number 171/2023, which includes sections 302 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as various sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” he said.
A police spokesman said they have attaches shop “The Game Modification” at Zirpara Bijbehara in Deepak Kumar @ Deepu S/O Mashu R/O Thial Panchayat Deot Bilaspur Udhampur Murder Case.
“In the evening of 29th May, 2023  Terrorists fired upon a Migrant  labourer near Amusement park Janglatmandi namely Deepak Kumar @ Deepu S/O Mashu R/O Thial -Panchayat Deot Bilaspur Udhampur, causing serious and fatal injuries  who later died at GMC Anantnag. After the killing of Deepak Kumar, the terrorist fled from the spot,” he said.
The spokesman said that upon this information FIR NO 171/2023 U/S 7/27 I.A Act, 302 IPC 16,18,20,39 UAPA was registered and investigation was set into motion.
“During the process of investigation Six Terrorists were arrested who were associated with Kashmir Freedom Fighter, an offshoot of Proscribed terrorist outfit JEM,” he said.
As per police six arrested terrorists including Sehran Bashir Nadaf S/O Bashir Ahmad Nadaf R/o Shirpora Deva Colony, Ubaid Nazir Laigroo S/O Nazir Ahmad Laigroo R/O Shirpora New Colony, Umer Amin Thoker S/O Mohd Amin R/O Waghama, HuzaifShabir Bhat S/O Shabir Ahmad Bhat R/O Wachi Shopian, Nasir Farooq Shah S/O Farooq Ahmad Shah R/O Wanteng Mohalla Bijbehara and Suveed Showkat Bhat S/O Lt Showkat Ahmad Bhat R/O Fatehpora.
The spokesman said that shop namely ” The Game Modification”  situated at Zirpara Bijbehara,  run by accused namely Umer Amin Thoker S/O Mohd Amin R/O Waghama and which  was used for this Terror incident is attached U/S 25 UAPA  by District Police Ananthnag.
