Central Nodal Officer-JSA-CTR visits Gool

The Director (Law & Order), Internal Security-I Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Central Nodal Officer (CNO) for Jal Shakti Abhiyaan (JSA)- Catch the Rain (CTR), Nishtha Tiwari, along with Scientist Central Ground water, Chandreyee De, today visited Sub Division Gool as a part of their 3-day visit to district Ramban.

On a post-monsoon visit to Gool, the Director along with a team of officers interacted with the Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan and other PRIs and took stock of their issues and concerns.

The Director was accompanied by SDM Gool, Tanveer-Ul-Majid,   members of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, ACD, Ashok Katoch, DFO, Rajan Singh, CHO, Anil Gorka, CAO, Ram Gopal Sharma, BDO, Tanjeel Runyal, Executive Engineer, JSD, Rajiv Ghai and other concerned engineers and officials.

The Director appreciated the District Administration for implementing inputs given by the Central team during the pre-monsoon visit to the district in the current year. She also advised the departments to construct more soakage pits for ground water recharging, besides ensuring Geo-tagging of all water bodies in the district.   

The Central team inspected Amrit Sarovars and other assets constructed for storage of water under ‘Catch the Rain, Where it falls, When it falls’ initiative by the RDD and other line departments in Sub Division, Gool. The developmental projects being executed under Jal Jeevan Mission in the area were also inspected.  

Inspecting the historic site and springs at Ghoda Gali, the Director informed that the Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a flagship programme of the Government of India focused on ensuring water security and conservation in the country.

During the interaction with PRIs and locals, the Director and Scientist CGW sensitized them about the importance of water conservation, promoting water harvesting, and improving infrastructure for water storage and distribution.

They asked them to understand the need of water conservation and its judicious use, protection and preservation of water sources and rain water harvesting to ensure safe and sufficient water availability for our future generations.

The Chairperson , DDC Ramban also discussed various issues pertaining to the water harvesting, besides apprising her about initiatives taken by the departments for ensuring ground water recharging and water harvesting under ‘Catch the Water’   programme in the district.
