Bandipora, Oct 24: Hilal Akbar Lone, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Sonawari Constituency, on Thursday chaired a maiden meeting at Dak Bungalow Sumbal to review the developmental scenario of Sonawari Constituency in Bandipora district.
During the meeting, the MLA conducted a detailed sector-wise review of various developmental schemes. Concerned officers from different departments briefed the chair on ongoing and new developmental works being undertaken in the Sumbal sub-division.
The chair was informed that out of 10 R&B schemes under NABARD, two have been completed, while work continues on the remaining schemes. Additionally, one scheme is ongoing under PMRP. The Executive Engineer of the R&B division Sumbal also provided updates on progress achieved under different schemes.
It was revealed that under PMGSY, three schemes have been completed at an expenditure of 892.45 lakhs. Regarding JJM, the meeting noted that out of 152 tendered works, 78 have been completed, covering six water supply schemes.
The meeting included discussions on schemes and services under RDD, health, education, PDD, agriculture, horticulture, ICDS, social welfare, urban local bodies, and skill development, among others.
Addressing the participants, Lone urged concerned officers and executing agencies to expedite ongoing and new works and ensure their completion within the designated timeframe. He called for cooperation among departments to enhance public service delivery and stated that a lackadaisical approach to developmental activities would not be tolerated.
While reviewing the activities of I&FC, the MLA asked officials to take necessary measures to ensure that no agricultural land remains un-irrigated. He urged officers to raise awareness among the public regarding different welfare schemes, ensuring that only eligible beneficiaries benefit from these initiatives.
Lone called for transparency and accountability in project execution, urging officers to develop a robust monitoring system to track progress, identify challenges promptly, and address them effectively to ensure that developmental goals and genuine public needs are met.
