Research and development are critical constituents of the scientific ecosystem, ensuring the growth and sustenance of a large, vibrant economy, uplifting society, and continuously inspiring a nation to achieve even greater heights. Higher Educational institutions have a greater role to play in shaping the research aptitude and trends among the youth.

Research at the undergraduate level is immensely important to promote curiosity, inquisitiveness, and enthusiasm among young men and women . Developing research aptitude at Undergraduate level has the potential to influence the interests and careers of many students leading advancements in technology, solutions to global challenges, and innovation-driven economic growth.

It has been observed that cultivating research aptitude at undergraduate level, students can become more engaged, motivated, and successful in their academic and professional pursuits.

To strengthen the research aptitude among the undergraduate students the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University will offer in- house internship opportunities to the students enrolled in various departments of the University offering UG programmes. All such departments in the beginning of the academic session will notify the internship opportunities depending upon the faculty strength , R&D projects undertaken by the faculty members and the lab facilities available in the departments. Students in groups will get themselves enrolled under a particular faculty member as per the available internship opportunities.

Based on the outcome of the internship in terms of the applicability/commercialisation of prototypes/research findings , each year one such team shall be declared as the best internship team of the year qualified for Vice Chancellor’s certificate of merit and a lab grant of Rs 25000.

The intent of the in-house internship program is to help students in developing critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills, essential for academic and professional success. This endeavor of the University is envisioned towards achieving the national goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
