FM NirmalaSitharaman tables Economic Survey 2023-24 in LS
Stage set for first Budget of Modi 3.0 today
PM asks MPs to put nation first, rise above party politics
Muzzling of elected Govt& PM undermines democracy

Jammu, July 22 :Union Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman on Tuesday tabled the Economic Survey 2023-2024 in the LokSabha.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman is poised to present the first budget of Modi 3.0 in LokSabha on Tuesday. This will be her seventh budget presentation, breaking Morarji Desai’s record of six. Desai, Finance Minister from 1959 to 1964, presented five full budgets and one interim budget.
Ahead of the Budget Session in Parliament, Prime Minister NarendraModi addressed the media, underscoring the significance of the upcoming budget as a milestone for the nation.
“Today marks the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, coinciding with the auspicious first Monday of the Sawan month. I extendheartfelt wishes to all citizens ON THE first Monday of Sawan. Today is first day of Moonsoon session and whole country is looking at it. This should be a positive session,” Prime Minister said.
In his address, the Prime Minister underscored the historical importance of the current government’s third-term tenure and the presentation of the first budget of this term. This budget is seen as a cornerstone for “Amritkaal” and will chart the course towards achieving a developed Bharat by 2047, celebrating 100 years of independence.
The Prime Minister reiterated the pride in the fact that after a gap of 60 years a government has come for the third consecutive year.
“Placing of the Budget by a third term government is being seen by the nation as a glorious event,” the Prime Minister said. The Prime Minister said that the Budget is a milestone budget of the AmritKaal and the government is working to realize the guarantees given over a period on the ground.
“This Budget will set the direction for the next five years of our government and lay a strong foundation for the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” Modisaid. He emphasized that the budget is crucial for realizing long-term goals and called on all Members of Parliament (MPs) to rise above party politics and focus on national interests.
Modi highlighted India’s position as the fastest-growing major economy, with an impressive 8% growth over the past three years. He urged MPs to commit to the country’s progress, prioritizing the needs of the poor, farmers, women, and youth over party affiliations until the next general elections in January 2029.
Noting that all the battles have now been fought among political parties and that the citizens have elected the government after the conclusion of the LokSabha elections, the Prime Minister urged all Members of Parliament to come together and fight for the country for the next 5 years. He also urged all political parties to rise up above their organizations and commit to the nation by making use of the dignified platform of the Parliament for the next four and a half years. “Go to the battlefields of election in January 2029. Till then, the only priority should be the country, its poor, farmers, women and the youth”, he exhorted. He added that no stone will be left unturned to realize the dreams and resolutions of a Viksit Bharat in 2047.
Addressing concerns about parliamentary conduct, Modi criticized attempts to undermine the elected government and its Prime Minister. He stressed that such actions have no place in democratic traditions and called for a constructive approach that allows all MPs, particularly first-time members, to contribute their views.
The Prime Minister lamented that due to the negative approach of some political parties, many Parliamentarians could not get any opportunity to put forward their views and the issues pertaining to their constituencies. He appealed to all the parties to give opportunities to all members, especially the first time members, to present their views.
Modi reminded the people about the efforts to muzzle the elected government and the Prime Minister’s speech in the Parliament. “This has no place in democratic traditions’, PM Modi asserted.
