Srinagar, Aug 20: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India has awarded the National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification to CHC Nagam in Budgam district marking a significant improvement in quality of patient care.
The certification is issued by the National Health Systems Resource Centre. The CHC underwent external assessment by empaneled assessors from May 09-11, 2024 in all 12 departments.
The certification said all the departments met five out of six criteria and got an overall score of 85.82 percent following which it got quality certification. “At the outset, efforts taken up for quality certification under NQAS are acknowledged,” it said.
“Hence 12 departments of CHC Nagam Badgam, Srinagar are granted ‘Quality Certified with Conditionality’ under NQAS for a period of one year from the date of issue of this letter,” it said.
As per the certification, it is expected that this facility would address the weaknesses found during the national certification assessment and close the gaps as early as possible. Meanwhile, J&K NHM congratulated the hospital for getting the certification.
Only those hospitals meeting the stringent standards receive the Union Health Ministry’s quality certification. Hospitals get NQAS certification from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for upholding high-quality standards at the institution.
