Jammu, Aug 24: BJP spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania on Thursday underscored the need for motivating first-time voters and facilitating them for their entry into the voter list. He exhorted the youth to get enrolled.
While addressing a meeting of party BLAs and booth presidents of the Ramnagar assembly segment, Pathania said all those voters who have attained 18 years of age on the first of October 2023 should immediately get themselves enrolled with their concerned BLO or ERO or AEROs.
“The applications can be sent physically or can also be made online. The two proofs required are the age proof and address proof. The law remains that a person can be enrolled at a place where he is ‘ordinarily residing’,” he said and called for positive cooperation from the election staff.
The BJP spokesperson said about the “golden quote” of PM Modi that ‘the power of the vote is the biggest power in the democracy’. Vote is the most effective tool to bring positive changes in the lives of millions of people. “The voters amplify the collective voice, and diverse perspective and promote inclusivity in decision making. On one side, they hold leaders accountable for governance of transparency and accountability while on the other side, they reflect the societal needs and aspirations for sustainable development,” he said.
He said Form-06 is the form where new voters can be enrolled and Form-07 is the form whereby deletion or objections and Form-08 is the exact platform whereby the corrections as well as marking of people with disabilities can be done. He said a mega mahotsav will be held on the 25th and 26th whereby new voters shall be made this has been enlisted by BJP as ‘vishesh sampark abhiyan’.
The BLOs, booth presidents, as well as BLA2s of BJP, shall ensure that they are able to conduct a door-to-door survey of their respective areas before the 25th and 26th maximum voters are enrolled for the purpose BJP has organised state-level tolleys, district level tolleys, Lok Sabha level and Vidhan Sabha level tolleys with a view to further fine-tuning and enabling the empowerment of people, the BJP leader said.
Pathania called upon the party cadres to immediately get all eligible voters included in the new voter revision. He called for a meticulous cross-checking of the voter lists so that all discrepancies/loose gaps could be effectively plugged out and an effective setup, particularly post delimitation, could be put in place.
“Free and fair election is the very bedrock of democracy and the BJP is committed to it. It is the duty of all of us so we ensure that all eligible people are able to vote in a free and fair environment and in line with the mandate of the law of the land. We all need to act as harbingers of the new change in J&K,” he said.
