Jammu, Aug 02: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Friday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government was a “complete failure”.
“All self-marketed myths of the party stood exposed as the government has turned out to be a complete failure that stood on an ever-mounting pyre of broken promises and U-turns,” he said while addressing the block-level meetings at Sanjay Nagar and surrounding areas here.
Bhalla, flanked by key Congress leaders including Vice President Rajnish Sharma Mian and District President Th Manmohan Singh, addressed an audience that included local politicians and community figures.
In his address, he pointed to the BJP’s pre-2014 claims of being a panacea for the region’s political and economic problems. Those claims proved to be shattered myths, he said, adding, “Not only have they broken every single political promise, but their governance has also proven disastrous for the state.”
He accused the BJP of exploiting emotional sentiments for electoral gains while failing to deliver on their commitments.
Bhalla praised the Indian National Congress (INC) as a movement dedicated to justice and equality. He said Congress has emerged as a credible voice for Jammu and Kashmir. “The Congress’s agenda of peace and development is being welcomed as a serious political force, with the credibility and governance experience needed to drive positive change,” he asserted.
The JKPCC leader also criticised the BJP for neglecting Jammu’s basic needs and infrastructure, claiming that the government has failed to provide essential services like power and water. He accused the BJP of misrepresenting the Congress’s work in advertisements and failing to address rural economic issues and workers’ rights. “The BJP has bartered away the pride and honour of the people of Jammu to satiate its lust for power,” he said.
On upcoming assembly elections, Bhalla expressed confidence that Congress would emerge as a dominant force in the Jammu region. He cited a significant rise in the party’s vote bank compared to the BJP. He urged voters to reject the BJP’s “opportunistic” policies and support Congress for a more effective and equitable governance.
