Srinagar, Oct 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday officially launched its membership drive in Jammu and Kashmir to “attract new members and foster connections with households”.
This initiative marks a significant step in the BJP’s ongoing mission to broaden its outreach and deepen engagement at the grassroots level.
Arif Raja has been appointed as the Membership Drive Incharge for the entire Kashmir Valley, overseeing the campaign’s reach, the party said in a statement issued here.
BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul kickstarted the membership drive in Srinagar and Budgam, while designated incharges launched the campaign in other districts.
In Srinagar, senior BJP leader Manzoor Bhat has been named as the District Membership Drive Incharge. The drive’s launch included a workshop organised by BJP Srinagar, announcing constituency in-charges, in the presence of District President Srinagar Ashok Bhat and senior leader and former MLC Shahnaz Ganie.
Addressing the attendees, Ashok Koul recounted BJP’s impressive growth in membership during previous drives in 2014 and 2019, achievements that established the BJP as the largest political party globally, surpassing even the Communist Party of China.
Koul urged all individuals above the age of 18 to join as primary members by calling the dedicated number, 8800002024. “This campaign is part of the broader Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024, launched on September 2, 2024, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda,” he said.
“The BJP remains resolute in its commitment to strengthening its membership and its bond with the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Koul added.

BJP members in Kashmir gather to tune into PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kashmir unit gathered in large numbers across the valley to listen to the 115th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio address, ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
This event underscored the party’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision and messages for the nation, the BJP J&K said in a statement issued here.
The main gathering took place at the BJP District Office in Srinagar, where senior BJP leaders, including Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organisation) J&K, were present. Koul highlighted the importance of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as a medium to connect with citizens’ aspirations across the country.
In his address, Koul highlighted how ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has become a vital platform for fostering direct communication between the government and the public, sharing inspiring stories that drive positive change. He encouraged BJP members and the public to actively listen and implement the messages conveyed in each episode.
“This event is part of a broader initiative by the BJP to strengthen engagement with the people of the valley, ensuring that the Prime Minister’s words resonate throughout the region,” Ashok said.
Similar gatherings were organised in various districts across Kashmir, reflecting the enthusiasm and solidarity of BJP members and supporters.
