Srinagar, July 03: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic fire mishap that reduced several residential houses and shops to ashes in Mehman Mohalla of Anantnag town on Tuesday night.
Tarigami urged the administration to depute revenue teams to assess the losses incurred by the victims so that the value of compensation is fixed and distributed among them immediately. He demanded adequate compensation and rehabilitation of those affected.
A massive fire incident Anantnag town caused extensive damage to several houses and shops, leaving families in despair. The fire occurred at Mehman Mohalla, adjacent to the business hub Lal Chowk.
Approximately ten houses and shops were damaged, with some sustaining severe damage. The area, known as one of the prime business locations, saw significant losses for shopkeepers.
The area had shops selling gold, medical supplies, wholesale goods, and books, all of which were severely damaged in the fire, according to locals.
