Kupwara, Jun 12: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir Spokesperson Rajni Sethi on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering in a new era of development and national unity over the past 11 years. She said no prime minister in the country’s history has focused on Kashmir and its people the way PM Modi has since taking office in 2014.

“We have been celebrating the past 11 years because no Prime Minister has ever done what Modi Ji has done. The development we have witnessed in Kashmir since 2014 is unprecedented,” Sethi said while addressing the media persons during her visit to Kupwara.

Highlighting PM Modi’s leadership style, she said, “It is a matter of pride for all of us that we have a Prime Minister who has never done politics based on religion or caste. He has worked to unite every part of society, and that is his biggest strength.”

She pointed to the multiple steps taken to restore peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade, adding that elections held in the region have seen significant public participation under Modi’s leadership. “In all these years, work that couldn’t be done earlier has finally been achieved. High voter turnout and peaceful elections are proof of people’s faith in democracy. All of this happened during Modi Ji’s rule,” she added.

Sethi also remarked on India’s image across the border. “People in our neighbouring country say that if Modi Ji were their leader, Pakistan wouldn’t be in such a bad state today,” she noted.

The spokesperson then drew comparisons with previous Congress-led governments. “In contrast to the Congress governments, which were marred by corruption and scandals, Prime Minister Modi’s 11 years have been clean. There has not been a single corruption allegation against him or his ministers,” she said.

Speaking on welfare schemes, she said, “From direct cash transfers to farmers to providing jobs through Mudra Yojana and Startup India, Modi Ji’s policies have impacted every section of society positively.”

She gave special emphasis to women’s empowerment. “Our sisters, who make up 50% of society, have received long-overdue attention. It was Modi Ji who gave them 33% reservation in Parliament. Today, women are not just in the defence forces and the NDA, but are rising in every field,” she said.

Targeting regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir, Sethi said, “Earlier, NC and PDP ruled here. People must reflect on what they gained or lost under those governments. The transformation of the region in the last 11 years is something no one can deny.”

Referring to the recent Pahalgam attack, the BJP spokesperson said the incident tarnished the image of the region. She highlighted the government’s strong response to terrorism.

“The recent Operation was a message to the enemies. No other government in the past dared to enter enemy territory and destroy terror camps. Modi Ji gave the army a free hand to act,” she said.
