Jammu, Sept 18: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Akhnoor Assembly Constituency-81, Mohan Lal on Wednesday said the contentious issue of smart meters would be resolved promptly once the party forms the government in Jammu & Kashmir.
Lal toured the villages of Dabra, Devipur, Chanjwan, Badyala Chak and Palwan within the constituency. Addressing a public gathering, he elaborated on key promises outlined in the BJP’s Sankalp Patra, which include providing Rs 3,000 monthly pensions for the elderly, widows and persons with disabilities. He assured attendees that the BJP aims to create 5 lakh employment opportunities to combat youth unemployment in the region.
The BJP candidate also mentioned a “groundbreaking” welfare initiative aimed at empowering women, promising Rs 18,000 per year for the senior-most woman in every household across J&K.
Highlighting the success of the Ayushman Sehat Yojana, which has improved access to healthcare for economically weaker sections, Lal pledged to raise the scheme’s coverage to Rs 8 lakh for better healthcare access for all.
Calling for a vote for development, security and prosperity, Mohan Lal said, “The vision of a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir can only be realized with the BJP at the helm.” He appealed to the people to support the party for a brighter future.
In addition to welfare initiatives, Lal addressed local concerns. He assured the residents that revetment work would commence immediately along the Chenab River to protect their lands from erosion.
