Jammu, Jan 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new campus of Asian School at Miran Sahib, Jammu, today. Sadhvi Ritambhara, Founder of Vatsalyagram Vrindavan, also graced the occasion. The Lt Governor extended his felicitations and best wishes to the management of the premier co-educational boarding school of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, for starting its branch in Jammu. He highlighted the reputed institution’s significant contribution to imparting value-based quality education to students.
The Lt Governor called upon private educational institutions to come forward and fulfil their responsibility towards society. He emphasized a commitment to the transformation of the education sector, urging private institutions to adopt measures to make education accessible and affordable to all, ensuring inclusivity, especially for the marginalized sections of society.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Lt Governor discussed the educational reforms introduced under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, aimed at establishing India as a knowledge economy. He acknowledged that the education sector had witnessed stagnation for over three decades, adversely affecting societal morale. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for instilling new confidence in society and restoring the ancient glory of Bharat.
The Lt Governor urged the teaching community to promote hands-on, experiential, and collaborative learning, fostering an enabling environment for the all-round development of students. Stressing the importance of youth as a crucial resource for the nation’s growth, he emphasized that education should empower the youth to contribute significantly to India’s progress towards a developed Bharat.
Present at the ceremony were Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Madanjeet Singh, Chairman of Asian School, Dehradun; Rajeev Gupta, Managing Director RDI India; Ankush Mahajan, Chairman of New Gandhi Memorial Educational Society; along with members of the school management, teachers, and students.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Innovation Tower at the University of Jammu, set to be completed in two phases under the Capex budget of 2023-24. The state-of-the-art facility aims to become a central hub for transformative innovation, incubation, skill development, and entrepreneurship in the Union Territory.
The innovative facility will house the Atal Innovation Centre & Data Analytical Centre, Skill Development & Career Progression Centre, and an Innovation Council. “It will feature dedicated space for the unique undergraduate program “Design Your Degree” and provide a collaborative environment for startups,” Lt Governor said.
Highlighting the significance of the Innovation Tower, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized its role in encouraging ideation and collaboration among youth. The facility aims to expedite the incubation process for future projects, reducing the time required for development.
Lt Governor Sinha directed the planning team to ensure flexibility in the space, with built-in capabilities and multiple areas for emerging technologies. He stressed the importance of creating an environment for intellectual collision and experience sharing among students and mentors.
The approved construction plan includes a G+3 floor structure in Phase-I, with provision for expansion to G+7 floors in Phase-II. Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University .
