Budgam, Dec 08: The Rising Star Cricket Club Chewdara has emerged victorious in the eighth edition of the Beerwah Cup, defeating the Draigam Cricket Club in the final match held at the DIET Cricket Ground in Beerwah.
Syed Waseem, the tournament organizer, said that a total of 16 cricket teams Participated in this year’s Beerwah Cup.
“The final match featured a contest between the Rising Star Cricket Club Chewdara and the Draigam Cricket Club, with Chewdara claiming the Beerwah Cup,” he remarked.
Waseem further noted that the runners-up received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a runner-up trophy. In contrast, the Rising Star Cricket Club was awarded Rs 20,000 and a trophy for their victory. The distribution of trophies and awards was conducted by all players who participated in the final matches.
“The Man of the Tournament was awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the Man of the Match received Rs 5,000. Additionally, Syed Rashid Inayat was recognized as the best all-rounder in this cricket tournament,” he added.
Waseem also mentioned that Aijaz Ali Khan, a social activist, distributed free cricket kits to all 16 participating teams in the tournament.
Aijaz Ali Khan, emphasized the importance of youth participation in sports activities to help keep them away from drugs.
“I will continue to support the youth of the Kashmir Valley to ensure they remain drug-free. As a social activist, it is my responsibility to encourage young individuals who are involved in local tournaments, and our players are actively participating in these events,” Khan said.
