Bandipora, Apr 07: President Contractors Association Bandipora, Naseer Ahmad Mir on Friday said that the district will see the completion of the Jal Jeevan Mission in October this year.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Naseer said he has been taking a firsthand appraisal of the progress made in the mission so far and is committed to providing tap water to every household of the north Kashmir district one year before its deadline set by the government.
Naseer said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a call that “not a single household should be left out of this noble mission”, the scheme is being implemented in Bandipora in a “very democratic manner” to achieve 100 percent saturation of tap water connection without any discrimination whether it is a tribal area or a remote forest area.
With proper coordination of the Jal Shakti department Bandipora in obtaining NoC clearances, the district would be able to complete this grand mission a year prior to its deadline, he said.
The contractors’ president said that under this mission, the piped water is being supplied to all rural establishments, and “every rural home should have a tap water connection by October of this year in Bandipora”.
Naseer also said that the contractors had been facing delays in payments which were causing impediments to the mega mission. However, the arrival of the new Chief Engineer Er Sanjeev Malhotra enabled the contractors to receive all their dues and hastened the progress of the works, he said.
He also thanked the Chief Engineer for directing the Executive Engineer to renew the contractors’ registration cards for the current financial year through offline mode.
Jal Jeevan Mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August 2019 to provide every rural household with a tap water connection by 2024.
