Bandipora, Aug 13: North Kashmir’s Bandipora district is gearing up for the first-ever ‘Chota Amarnath Yatra’, a pilgrimage that holds historic and religious significance.
Despite its relatively low popularity in the past, the Chota Amarnath shrine, located in the forests of sub-village Shamthan of Arin Dardpora, the shrine has gained attention as its potential for spiritual tourism was earlier highlighted by Rising Kashmir.
The demands of the local population to explore this pilgrimage site have led to its recognition on a broader scale.
Scheduled to commence on August 31, this revered yatra is poised to attract devotees from across the country, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed told Rising Kashmir. He said a comprehensive meeting has already convened along with various departments to strategize and coordinate every aspect of the pilgrimage.
From medical facilities and transportation to accommodation, security arrangements, and communication facilities, every detail has been meticulously planned, he added.
To ensure the well-being of devotees, the health department will set up medical camps along the yatra route which will offer immediate assistance in case of emergencies, Dr Owais said, adding that a thorough health check-up of each devotee before they begin the yatra will further enhance their safety.
The DC said security is a paramount concern, and the police department is poised to deploy an ample number of personnel to maintain law and order. The communication wing of the police will play a crucial role in providing essential information and support, he said.
On the first day of the pilgrimage, a diverse gathering of devotees from across India is expected to join which reflects the nationwide significance of this historic event, the DC Bandipora said, adding, “Our meticulous efforts are on to provide comprehensive support so to create a memorable, secure, and comfortable pilgrimage experience.”
