Bandipora, June 27: District administration Bandipora on Tuesday issued an advisory to the general public of Bandipora, urging them to exercise caution and avoid venturing around water bodies.
The advisory comes in response to a tragic incident in Bandipora Sumbal, where two siblings lost their lives due to drowning in river Jehlum.
In view of recent rains and melting of snow, there has been an increase in the water flow in water bodies especially River Jehlum, Wullar Lake, Nallah Madhumatti and other streams, and a further increase in water flow/water level is expected in coming hours /days, advisory reads.
As per the advisory order, the residents residing near the banks of River Jehlum, Wullar Lake in Tehsil Sumbal, Hajin, and Ajas have been specifically advised to refrain from venturing near water bodies during this critical period.
