Rajouri, Dec 06: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) on Friday observed Mahaparinirvan Diwas, marking the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the revered architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless advocate for social justice and equality. The day was commemorated with deep reverence to honor Dr. Ambedkar’s transformative contributions to Indian society.
In his message, Prof. (Dr.) Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting his pivotal role in shaping India’s democratic framework. “Dr. Ambedkar’s commitment to equality, justice, and the empowerment of marginalized communities continues to inspire us,” Prof. Iqbal said. “As an educational institution, it is our duty to uphold his ideals and ensure that every individual, regardless of caste, religion, or background, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to society.”
The ceremony, organized by the Department of Management Studies, began with the ceremonial offering of flowers at Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait. Faculty, staff, and students gathered to pay their respects, reflecting on the profound impact of Dr. Ambedkar’s work. Dr. Parvez Abdullah, Head of the Department of Management Studies, delivered a moving tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, emphasizing his legacy as a champion of social equality and justice.

The event, conducted by Dr. Gourav Sehgal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies, was marked by an atmosphere of reflection and reverence. The gathering pledged to follow Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings of social justice and equality, committing themselves to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
The observance of Mahaparinirvan Diwas at BGSBU underscores the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment that aligns with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of social transformation and equality for all.
