Srinagar, Aug 28: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad has announced that he will not be able to campaign for his party’s candidates in the upcoming assembly elections due to health concerns.
In a statement, Azad said he experienced acute chest pain on the night of August 25 while in Srinagar.
The former chief minister said he immediately flew to Delhi the next morning and was admitted to AIIMS hospital, where he stayed for two days.
Although doctors have assured me that there is no immediate danger, I am dealing with other health issues that require medication and rest, he said. “These unforeseen circumstances have forced me to step back from the campaign trail,” he explained.
Azad expressed his regret over not being able to support his party’s candidates during this crucial period and urged his colleagues who have filed nomination forms to consider whether they can continue without his presence. “If they feel my absence would impact their chances, they have the freedom to withdraw their candidacy,” he added.
