Ganderbal. Sept 05: An Awareness program titled Building Resilience: A community United Against Mental Health Struggles and Drug Abuse, was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry(FVSc & AH) SKUAST- K under the Happy & Healthy Minds project run by Kashmiri American Society for Healthcare Medical Education & Research (KASHMER) and Help Poor Voluntary Trust(HPVT).
The audience included students, members of the Faculty and other staff of the Faculty of FVSc & AH . Ms Areej Zaffar moderated the program and kept the audience focussed during the proceedings. The session was formally inaugurated by Prof. Sabia Qureshi HOD FVSc & AH.
Dean of the Faculty Prof Shayaib A Kamil extended a warm welcome to the guests & audience, and inspired the audience by words of wisdom and tips for building a resilient mindset. Speakers Dr Mohd Muzaffar Khan, Consultant Psychologist and Director YDRC, counsellor psychologists Ms Mrs Arifat and Ms Arbeena Iqbal shed light on various aspects of mental health issues prevalent in the society, esp among students, and the rising trend of substance abuse in J&K, and how to ensure a healthy mindset among the students & staff, and ensure s drug free institutional environment. Dr Azmat Alam Khan OSD to VC SKUAST- K while elevating the spirit of students emphasized the importance of sharing mental health concerns with families, friends and experts. In this regard he also envisioned cooperation between entities regarding organising workshops related to mental health disorders and Substance Abuse at various SKAUST -K campuses.
Dr Sajjad Ahmed, students welfare officer at the institution concluded the program by summing up activities of the day and extending words of thanks to the guests, faculty and the students.
