Srinagar, July 04:Amidst the bustling streets where many see only destitution, four friends from Awantipora in South Kashmir have emerged as beacons of hope for the homeless. MusadiqBashir and his companions have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of those who survive on the streets through their compassionate efforts.
Starting their initiative a year ago, the group has already rescued around a dozen individuals from the harsh realities of homelessness and begging. Their motivation, as Musadiq Bashir explained to Rising Kashmir, stems purely from a sense of humanity and a desire to offer a better life to those in need.
“We began this work in Awantipora and recently started sharing our efforts on social media to reach more people who require assistance,” Musadiq said. “In the Kashmir Valley, the plight of roadside beggars often goes unnoticed. We felt compelled to take action and make a difference.”
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. “Currently, we focus on providing grooming, food, and clothing to these individuals. We have seen a positive impact, with people now approaching them and offering support after we groom and assist them,” Musadiq added.
While their work has garnered praise from the community, the friends hope for additional support, especially from the government, to expand their outreach. “With a bit of assistance, we could accelerate our efforts,” Musadiq expressed. “Currently pursuing our studies—myself in B.Tech and my friends YawarRasid, Salman Bhat, and Fiazan in BA—we do what we can with the resources at hand.”
