Srinagar, Oct 22: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference general secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar on Tuesday presided over an Awami Darbar in the Koolipora area of his constituency.
The locals took the opportunity to bring their issues to Sagar’s attention, who listened attentively and promptly directed officials to address the issues, the party said in a statement issued here, adding that the executive heads of various departments and Tehsildar Khanyar were also present at the occasion.
Sagar, who secured a resounding victory in the Khanyar constituency and was sworn in just yesterday, wasted no time in convening a Darbar the very next day.
“The community hall was packed with locals eager to voice their concerns to Sagar. Issues such as water scarcity, erratic power supply, and ration problems were at the forefront of the discussions,” the statement said.
In response to the issues raised, Sagar said the party manifesto, which includes 12 guarantees and 24 promises, is the roadmap to addressing the public’s grievances. He assured the people that the government, led by Omar Abdullah, would work tirelessly to fulfill all commitments.
The MLA impressed upon the PHE department to resolve the water crisis plaguing the area. “Swift action must be taken to ensure the well-being of the people,” he said.
