Rajouri, March 19: A special camp for displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) was held at Lamberi in Rajouri on Sunday. The event was well-attended and received high praise from participants. It provided a platform for addressing grievances and allowed displaced persons to register for various government schemes including skill development, self-employment, social assistance, studies, sports and financial inclusion.
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal was the chief guest at the event. He toured stalls displaying information about different schemes and instructed officers to disseminate information about them. Kundal emphasised the government’s commitment to providing all possible assistance to POJK displaced persons and assured them that their grievances would be addressed in a timely manner.
Kundal urged all eligible POJK residents to take advantage of this opportunity and register for government welfare schemes. He encouraged them to avail themselves of self-employment schemes and participate in skill development activities for livelihood generation. He highlighted the need to empower them economically and socially so that they can become financially independent.
Later on, the DC distributed sanction letters among beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Employment Guarantee Programme (PMEGP), which will help them set up their own business ventures with financial aid from the government. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the government’s initiative in addressing their grievances and providing an opportunity for their issues to be addressed.
The Deputy Commissioner handed over keys to commercial vehicles to unemployed youth from the displaced community under the Mumkin scheme of Mission Youth. Other officials present at the event included ADDC Pawan Kumar, DDC Seri, Sangeeta Sharma, ADC Nowshera, Kartar Singh and ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal. District and sectoral officers, Sarpanches, Panches and thousands of people also attended.
