Udhampur, Nov 24: The Horticulture Department Udhampur on Sunday organized a one-day farmers’ awareness camp under the ATMA scheme for 2024-25 here at Government High School Hartaryan.
Over 150 farmers from the region participated in the camp, which aimed to educate them about the government schemes and initiatives designed to boost agricultural and Horticulture productivity and support rural livelihoods.
The event was graced by District Development Council Chairman Lal Chand as the chief guest, while Chief Horticulture Officer Brij Vallabh Gupta presided over the program. DDC Member Tikri, Ashu Sharma and officers of the Horticulture Department were also present.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairman highlighted numerous Central and UT Government schemes available for farmers, unemployed youth, and Self-Help Group members. He emphasised that these schemes offer subsidies up to 90%, encouraging participants to utilize the benefits and contribute towards the realization of the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat.
The CHO provided detailed insights into flagship government schemes, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), PM-KUSUM and other schemes. He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices to enhance productivity and income.
Later, the DDC Chairman handed over keys of power tillers and sanction letters for deep bore-wells to the farmers, marking the department’s commitment to empowering the farming community with advanced tools and facilities.
