Moungri mela to begin May 15, arrangements reviewed

Udhampur, May 04: The district administration Udhampur on Thursday discussed the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the three-day historic annual Shiv-Parvati Shrine (Moungri) mela here.
In this regard, a meeting of stakeholder departments was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia in the presence of SSP Dr Vinod Kumar. The mela will begin from May 15 at Sar Dabber in Tehsil Moungri.
The meeting discussed arrangements for the maintenance of roads, security, sanitation, health care, transport, drinking water, power supply, market rate checking, and deployment of fire tenders and hosting of cultural programme and sports events. 
The ADC directed all the officers to ensure all arrangements pertaining to their respective departments well in advance and in an effective manner leaving no scope for any complaint from any quarter. The Executive Engineer PHE was asked to make adequate arrangements for drinking water supply at the mela site while Xen PDD was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply till the culmination of the historic fair.
The ADC directed the Executive Engineers PMGSY and PWD to take up the repair work of the road. It was decided that the district police would deploy adequate security personnel during mela days, while ARTO was asked to deploy a sufficient number of buses from different locations for the convenience of the devotees visiting the shrine. Regarding providing the first aid facilities at the mela site, the ADC directed the chief medical officer to deploy a team of doctors and an ambulance for the same. It was decided in the meeting that Tehsildar Moungri would be the Mela Officer.
The government departments were directed to put up their departmental stalls to showcase respective schemes and encourage the people to take benefit of the same.  It was also decided that the Youth Services & Sports department, in coordination with the Education department, would organize a cultural programme and sports events at the venue. 
Patron in Chief Shiv Parvati caves Shrine Moungri, Shiv Kumar Sharma apprised the meeting that a wrestling competition will also be organized on the last day of the mela on May 17 which is one of the main attractions of the three-day event.
