Reasi, Nov 05: District Magistrate Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan on Sunday presided over a meeting to assess the arrangements for the festival of lights- Diwali. The meeting took place in the video conference hall of the DC office complex.
During the meeting, the DM instructed the Magistrates, Police Officers and the Executive Officers of all the MCs to identify the locations/ shops for sale of firecrackers and issue necessary permissions to the identified vendors with clear instructions for abiding by the safety measures.
Security arrangements were reviewed and stakeholders were instructed to put in extra efforts to maintain peace and harmony and manage traffic in the towns for smooth celebration of the festival.
DM gave directions to police and SDRF departments Reasi to deploy the adequate personnel at sports stadium and Yog Ashram Ground Katra to deal with any exigency during the sale of crackers.
The Fire and Emergency Services department was directed to keep fire tenders on standby to respond to any emergencies. The CMO was asked to ensure that all the health institutions including the District Hospital should be fully operational and prepared to deal with any eventuality especially burn injuries.
It was also decided that special teams shall be formulated to ensure checking of markets for the rates , quality of products, cleanliness especially for sweets and other gift items.
The Deputy Commissioner desired that the district administration should ensure the happiness of the Diwali festival.
It was further directed that Municipal authorities shall ensure cleanliness and add glitter to both the towns. DC appealed to the people to enjoy the festival and take all precautions while bursting crackers. He wished all the people in Reasi a great Diwali.
Action Plan for winter preparedness discussed in Reasi
Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan chaired a meeting of the officers of the line departments to discuss the Action Plan for Winter Preparedness.
The meeting discussed the measures required for the safety and well-being of the residents during the upcoming winter season.
The DC directed Stakeholder departments to take preemptive steps to ensure that the snow clearance operations are well-coordinated to keep roads and essential routes open for transportation, emergency services, and daily commuters.
The DC directed CMO to stock adequate medicines in the snow bound areas. The CMO was asked to direct the nearest health centres and Asha workers to collect details of the pregnant women residing in snow bound areas with expected date of delivery to the ensure that no expecting mother is left without proper care
The DC directed AD FC & CA Reasi to start stocking of ration and also ensure that there was no shortage of LPG in the snow bound areas in winter months.
The Executive Engineers JPDCL and Jal Shakti Department were asked to formulate a Rapid Action Plan to maintain power and water supply in the snow bound areas of the district.
The meeting was attended by ADC Reasi Abdul Star, ADM Katra, Xen’s from PWD and Jal Shakti Department, AD Food Civil Supplies, EO Municipal Committee Katra and other officers of concerned line departments.
DM Reasi Review progress of DAK expressway
District Magistrate Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan on Sunday chaired a meeting to review the progress made in the construction of the Delhi-Amritsar Katra Expressway project.
The meeting was attended by ADC Abdul Star , DFO Reasi, SDM Katra ,ACR Reasi , Project Director PIU Udhampur, and other concerned officers .
While speaking in the meeting, the DM directed Divisional Manager State Forest Corporation Reasi/ Udhampur to shift 2500 trees which have already been cut and were laying on the road side.
The meeting conducted a comprehensive examination of the progress of the work on the prestigious Expressway. The Deputy Commissioner directed ACD, DFO, PIU Udhampur and SDM Katra to jointly visit the spot and resolve the dispute of forest and local villagers.
He further advised the NH authorities to ensure that the Contractor puts in place adequate men and machinery to pace up the progress. The Deputy Commissioner enjoined all to work in close coordination and ensure to adhere to timelines. It was desired that the weekly progress report shall be submitted to DC Reasi for more strict and close monitoring of the progress of the project.
