Jammu, Mar 04: The Cheetah Helicopter of the Indian Army on Monday afternoon had to make a “precautionary landing” in the border district Rajouri of Jammu region after the pilots noticed technical snag in the helicopter.
The Cheetah Helicopter was on a training sortie from Udhampur to Rajouri. The timely detection of the technical snag in the Helicopter by the pilots who opted for ‘Precautionary Landing’ averted a major tragedy, the Army official said.
The incident occurred at around noon in the fields of Hathal village, located in the Sunderbani tehsil. The Army officials said that the pilots, during training sortie, identified a serious technical snag and opted for a precautionary landing as a safety measure.
“The Army’s Cheetah Helicopter was on training sortie, which took off from Udhampur district of Jammu region towards Rajouri,” Defence PRO, SuneelBartwal, informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “Due to some technical snag noticed on time by the pilots, the Cheetah Helicopter made the precautionary landing”.
The technical snag could have resulted in a tragedy. However, the timely detection of the technical snag has averted the tragedy.
