Army pays tributes to fallen soldier in Sopore encounter

Srinagar, Jan 21: The Army on Tuesday paid tribute to Sowar to slain soldier Pangala Kartheek, who was killed during an encounter with terrorists in Gujarpati area of Sopore in northern Kashmir.
The encounter, the first of the year in Kashmir, began on Sunday evening when joint forces launched an operation in the Zaloora, Gujjarpati area of Sopore. During the operation, a terrorist hideout was discovered.
An Army spokesperson stated that General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), along with all ranks of the Indian Army, saluted the supreme sacrifice of Swr Pangala Kartheek, who gave his life in the line of duty.
The Army expressed its deepest condolences, standing in solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult time.
Meanwhile a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps headquarters, where the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Chinar Corps, along with senior officers from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), paid tribute to the fallen soldier.
“Chinar warriors salute the courage and sacrifice of Swr Pangala Kartheek. We stand united with the bereaved family and are committed to supporting them,” the Army spokesperson said.
Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander of Northern Command (NC), and all ranks of Dhruva Command also paid their respects to the Braveheart.
“Dhruva Command stands firmly with the family of Swr Pangala Kartheek in this hour of grief,” the spokesperson added.
