Jammu, Aug 27: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu S. Manjit Singh on Tuesday vowed that the party would regularise 61,000 daily wagers working in various departments of the Jammu & Kashmir government if it comes to power.
During a campaign event in Smailpur, Samba district, he highlighted the plight of many daily wagers who have served for decades without receiving any benefits or regularisation, with some even retiring without any compensation.
Singh criticised the government for its lack of response to the demands of these workers, saying that the Apni Party would address this issue on humanitarian grounds. He promised that if the Apni Party was elected, it would ensure the regularisation of daily wagers and the immediate release of their pending wages. He also expressed support for the implementation of the Minimum Wage Act in Jammu & Kashmir.
The former minister said the daily wagers are in poor financial condition. Their wages have been pending for months, and the underdevelopment in Smailpur and surrounding villages, he said.
The Apni Party leader said the roads and drains in Samba have been damaged after the flash floods. He criticised the authorities for their alleged negligence. “A democratic government would hold officials accountable for such negligence,” he promised.
Singh urged the people to support Apni Party candidates in the upcoming assembly elections, which he said, advocates for equitable development, protection of local rights and employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth.
