Jammu, June 24: Apni Party Provincial Secretary, and In Charge Membership Drive, Dr Rohit Gupta on Monday criticised the Northern Railways for its inability to manage crowds in Jammu Railway Station’s platforms flooded with passengers.
In a statement, Dr Gupta said the platforms are overcrowded and there is no mechanism to manage the passengers on a platform which may become a cause of some mishaps.
“The increasing rush of passengers and overcrowded platforms at Jammu Railway Station also poses a security threat to the people, which needs to be checked with the deployment of an adequate number of staff and security personnel,” he said.
He demanded improvement of facilities at the platforms for the passengers coming to Jammu from parts of the country.
“The cleanliness, poor parking spaces are not sufficient and coolies are less than the required numbers at the railway station that often lead to a mess.
Meanwhile, the Apni Party leader demanded an increase in the halt time of Vande Bharat Train time from two minutes to five minutes at Jammu Railway Station for the facility of passengers.
“The passengers are unable to deboard or board the train in two minutes. Therefore, it becomes imperative to increase the halt time at Jammu Railway Station,” he added.
